Many photographers make the mistake of thinking that a DSLR or mirrorless camera is the only option for professional, amateur and art photography shooting.
There is another (very cool) option! We all carry them. We all have them.
Smartphones are quickly catching up to mirrorless and DSLR cameras. Pixels, resolution, dynamic range and MORE!
Some photographers will argue that they are MUCH better!
Here's A Look At Why...
1. NO MORE EXCUSES
There is no reason to be stuck without a camera. Smartphone cameras fit in your pocket. They fit in a purse. They are lightweight. You may forget that you're even carrying a camera around with you. (Don’t do that)
2. BANG FOR YOUR BUCK
Most of us already pay a monthly phone bill in addition to paying for our cameras. Why not pay ONE bill for a phone and a camera? The latest iPhone, with the latest camera, including the latest apps!
Most smartphone cameras shoot relatively wide AND relatively long. Most have a normal AND macro capability to them. Many have great lenses with maximum apertures of f/1.8 or better.
4. POLICE & SECURITY GUARDS WILL LEAVE YOU ALONE
How many times have you been forbidden to enter, or asked to leave a location just because you are carrying a "professional camera"? Sometimes politely, sometimes not so much! With a smartphone, you no longer look “professional” and can go pretty much anywhere. Stealthy and inconspicuous.
5. SOCIAL MEDIA & SHARING
There is no doubt that quickly sharing your files, images, and information is a reason many everyday people and photographers are using smartphones. We live in instant gratification, impulsive world. Smartphones have the edge here – by far!
Remember, what's most important is to keep taking photos, while having fun! No matter what camera you're on.
